Dinghy sailing course (beginners)

We organize sailing courses for adults and youth at Nuottaniemi. You can start sailing at any age! We use single-handed ILCA (Laser) dinghies.

The course is taught in Finnish, but instruction can also be provided in English if needed.

Course program

During the beginner’s course, you will learn the basics, such as getting your boat ready for sailing, starting off from the shore, the basics skills of sailing, and returning to shore. After completing the course, you will have the necessary skills to move safely on the water and to continue in the club’s training groups.

No prior sailing experience is required. All skills are practiced together over the course weekend. If you already have some sailing experience, we recommend exploring our advanced course options.

After completing the course, everyone is warmly welcome to continue sailing in our training groups! Our club offers three ILCA Masters training groups, so there’s the right level of challenge for every sailor. You can join the weekly practice sessions right after the course and continue throughout the rest of the season, until October. More information about the groups is provided during the course.
