Organ Night and Aria’s Christmas Concert takes the listener through the moods of the holiday season – from German tradition to French devotion and the warmth of an English Christmas. The evening’s brilliant musicians – tenor Tuomas Katajala, pianist and composer Jukka Nykänen, and versatile instrumentalist Marko Portin – bring new colours to familiar Christmas songs through improvisation and inspired collaboration. The programme features beloved works such as Es ist ein Ros entsprungen, Panis angelicus, and O Tannenbaum, along with surprises and spontaneous improvisations that showcase Nykänen’s virtuosic pianism and Portin’s multi-instrumental artistry (clarinet, saxophone, flute). The evening culminates in sing-alongs and Adolphe Adam’s beloved O Holy Night, where all the concert’s tones – devotion, joy, and international connection – blend into one.
Welcome to tune into the spirit of Christmas, in the light and warmth of music!
Duration approx. 70 minutes, no intermission.
