Children’s Independence Day Celebration at Aurora Children's Cultural Centre

Join us once again at the Aurora Children's Cultural Centre to celebrate Children's Independence Day with enchanting light performances and nature-themed art workshops. Admission is free. Welcome!

PROGRAMME:

3:30 PM & 4:30 PM | Belenos Group of Arts: Mira Light Show | Circle Stage

The wondrous Mira is a red giant star that periodically changes its brightness. It trails a comet-like tail stretching across light-years, leaving behind a sparkling glow. Belenos Group of Arts’ newest light show Mira brings the glitter of constellations before the audience’s eyes and captivates with its brilliance. Weather permitting.

2:15 PM, 3:15 PM & 4:15 PM | Aura of Puppets: Sparrow Lantern Puppet | Courtyard

The Sparrow is a large lantern puppet, a moving installation that glides above the audience. It’s a delightfully surprising encounter—an experience that comes to you—but also an elegy for the familiar yet endangered sparrow, a subtle statement in support of biodiversity.

2–5 PM | Frosty Landscape Workshop | Courtyard

A winter landscape glows with mysterious magic. Let’s create sparkling blue-and-white frosty scenes using salt. These artworks will last for a moment, transformed by the magic of each artist’s touch. Workshop design and guidance: Art Instructor Jenni Vilander.

2–5 PM | Forest’s Winter Dreams Workshop | Courtyard

Winter has arrived, and the forest’s animals and plants are deep in hibernation. But what kind of dreams do they dream? In this playful shadow theatre workshop, children and adults reveal the forest’s dreams on a white canvas. Colors dance, bears tumble, and spruces recite poetry. Welcome to the joyful winter dreams of the forest. Workshop design and guidance: Metropolitan Puppets Association.

2–5 PM | Ice Forest Workshop | Courtyard

What might Aurora’s Ice Forest be like? Are there animals, trees, or stones? In this workshop, we’ll marvel at the magic of ice and create a communal ice art piece in Aurora’s yard. Workshop design and guidance: Art Instructor Aino Malinen. Weather permitting.

Admission is free.

Programme subject to change.
