Additional information
anniinan-art.carrd.co(external link, opens in a new window)The exhibition consists of delicate digital paintings with the theme of water and women who seem to feel at home in it. Detailed drawings are combined with a dreamlike atmosphere and imaginative landscapes.
In contrast to John Everett Millais's Pre-Raphaelite 19th-century painting of Ophelia, in which the helpless Ophelia appears to be drowning in the river due to the tragedy she has experienced, Nieminen's Ophelia, instead of resigning herself to her fate, seems to be enjoying her existence on the water.
Anniina Nieminen is a graphic designer and artist with a background in metal engraving, but who has recently focused on digital painting using the Procreate software. Nieminen is fascinated by the versatility of the program and its ability to imitate traditional painting techniques.
