Jarkko Volanen (born 1971) published his new book Vainovalkeat in the spring of 2025. The book was also nominated for the Finlandia Prize the same year.

Vainovalkeat tells the story of two brothers who grew up under strict military discipline. The book also features a female couple who must hide their love. The story takes place in a world ruled by persecution and fear.

Author Sinikka Paavilainen interviews Jarkko Volanen at the event. The event is organized in cooperation with the Espoo Writers’ Association.

The event will be held in Finnish.
