Yarn TakeOver is a communal event where spectators, both young and old, are invited to join in and engage with crafting and threads in a playful and explorative way. Together we take over a part of AINOA shopping center with colourful yarns, threads and togetherness they bring. It is an investigation of alternative approaches to crafting and bringing the playfulness of it into young people's minds and bodies. Movement tasks and games will be presented, together with little dance breaks inspired by different types of crafts.
There is also a space for some calmer knitting and crocheting where a communal blanket is waiting to be helped to grow. Bring your own crafting project and join us to create a threaded playground together!
Liisi Hint is a dance artist, archivist and a crafter based between Berlin and Tallinn. In her work, she often tackles with her own personal experience through absurdity, meeting the unknown or building collages. Being inspired by her grandmother's legacy of crafting, she has threaded that into her artistic practice.
Dance and performance artist Kirte Jõesaar is collaborating with Liisi Hint on Yarn takeOver.
The event is organized by Bravo!-festival, the AINOA shopping center and the Children's Cultural Center Aurora.
