The best of Finland’s biggest annual nature photography competition are on display in Nature House Villa Elfvik from 28 January to 22 March 2026. The Nature Photos of the Year 2025 exhibition features all the winning photographs.

As always, the Nature Photo of the Year competition included nine categories. The annually changing category was portfolio, allowing photographers to submit several photos related to the same theme. The Nature Photos of the Year 2025 exhibition features a total of 38 amazing photographs.

Espoo-based nature photographers were again successful in the competition. The exhibition features photos by five photographers from Espoo. Ossi Saarinen’s unique and amusing photo of the paws of a lynx was selected as the Nature of Photo of the Year 2025. The exhibition also includes Saarinen’s six-photo series of the lynx in its natural habitat, selected as one of the winners in the portfolio category.

Several photos by Tuomas Heinonen are also on display. His portfolio entitled ‘My neighbour, the flying squirrel’ consists of six photographs of Espoo’s symbolic animal. Among the winning bird photos is also Heinonen’s captivating image of a crane silhouetted against the morning sun.

Other images by Espoo-based photographers in the exhibition include underwater photographer Pekka Tuuri’s striking action shot of pike fishing, Olli Leino’s atmospheric bat photo, and Ari Heino’s insightful close-up of a red-throated diver.

On Sunday 8 March 2026 at 13:00, Ossi Saarinen will give a photo presentation focusing on the lynx and photographing the species. Due to the limited space, signing up is required.

Nature House Villa Elfvik (Elfvikintie 4, Espoo) is open Mon–Fri 9:00–15:00 and Sun 10:00–16:00. Café Elfvik is open on weekends whenever the Nature House is open. The exhibition and events are free of charge.
