Marita Lönnberg wants her photographs to convey the calming atmosphere of a forest. She observes that a forest is nearly always just a few steps away. The nature photograph exhibition is on display at the Nature House Villa Elfvik from 21 May to 15 June 2025, possibly also in September 2025.

‘The local forest in Espoo has been my lifeline for many years. It's where I've taken all my joys and sorrows. My listeners have been forest plants and animals. When I’m there, I feel how the forest breathes around me and wraps me in its arms’, Lönnberg explains her relationship with her local forest.

Lönnberg started her photography hobby about 10 years ago and found the camera to be a fitting tool for interpreting her experiences and conveying the beauty of nature. The pictures share stories of encounters anyone can experience when walking about in nature – all you need to do is stop and look around for a while.

‘It can be truly magical to see and experience things in nature. A close contact with a wild animal is always an unforgettable experience’, says Lönnberg.

The photographs displayed at the exhibition have been taken in the forests and nature areas in Espoo, Helsinki and Kirkkonummi. Marita Lönnberg has done numerous photography courses and completed a vocational qualification in nature photography in 2023.

Two events will be organised in connection with the exhibition.

Meet with a nature photographer Sun 25 May 2025 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Marita Lönnberg is at the exhibition talking about her pictures.
Basics of nature photography course Sat 14 June 2025 from midday 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. The course is held by the award-winning nature photographer Elmeri Juuti and is suitable for both beginners and more experienced photographers. Pre-registration required.

Nature House Villa Elfvik is open Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–3 p.m. and Sun 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Ascension Day 29 May 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Café Elfvik is open on weekends: Sat 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Sun and public holidays 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The exhibition and events are free of charge.

Due to a roof renovation project, the Nature House will be closed from 16 June 2025 until the end of August, possibly longer. The Metsän sylissä – In the Arms of the Forest exhibition may return on display in September.
