Timo-Juhani Kyllönen (b. 1955) is a composer, accordionist and conductor whose catalogue includes almost 100 pieces: opera, concerts, chamber music, songs, choir pieces and film music. Kyllönen’s 70th birthday concert is a unique opportunity to experience an impressive programme with a wide variety of Finnish, English and Norwegian poetry accompanied by modern instrumental, vocal and choir music. The concert is an excellent look into Kyllönen’s works.
The Tapiola Chamber Choir, known for its artistic accomplishments, features in the concert under Hannu Norjanen. Soloists include soprano Aurora Marthens, winner of the Timo Mustakallio competition in 2017; rising mezzo-soprano Olivia Kyllönen, Elias Miettinen, a lied pianist graduate from the Sibelius Academy; internationally renowned violinist Linda Hedlund, and the RSO’s solo cellist Eeva Rysä.
