Anime, manga, cosplay, J-rock…! A special exhibition at Leikki – the Museum of Play delves into the hobbyist culture surrounding Japanese popular culture in Finland. Japanese popular culture particularly became a significant interest and part of identity for many young people in the early 2000s. Nowadays, there are several generations of hobbyists, and interest in the subject shows no signs of waning. The exhibition features Japanese comics, animation, games, fashion, music, and fan art.

In the “From Tokyo to Tapiola” exhibition, you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at drawing manga, play Japanese arcade game, explore a hobbyist’s room, and play in a miniature world of anime characters. The exhibition has been developed in close collaboration with the hobbyist community and is aimed at anyone interested in the subject, starting from school-age children.
