Maria Kalaniemi became widely known in 1983 after winning the first Gold Accordion competition in Ikaalinen. Over the past three decades, Kalaniemi has had a major career in modernising public views about the accordion and the music that can be played with it, both in Finland and abroad.
Timo Alakotila graduated from Helsinki’s Pop & Jazz Conservatory in 1992, majoring in composition. His extensive works include concertos, countless arrangements, music dramas, and dance performances, to name a few.
