May 2022 marked the centenary of the birth of Erik Lindström (1922–2015). He created a decades-long career as a bass player, composer, lyricist and record producer. His heart was in jazz, but he also cleared the way for broader acceptance of many kinds of popular music. He was the author of a fair number of Finnish schlager classics, but he was also instrumental in discovering artists such as Irwin Goodman and Juha Watt Vainio. And he invented the Letkajenkka.
