Espoo to sell old Kungsgårdsskolan buildings with a leasehold right

The City of Espoo is seeking a buyer for the old Kungsgårdsskolan buildings in Kurttila through an open application procedure to carry out new activities in the buildings. The application procedure is ongoing, and the city reviews applications in the order they are received. The application procedure ends once a suitable project is found, but not before 31 August 2026.

The selected project will be presented to the City Board’s Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee. In accordance with the project plans, either a planning reservation or the possibility to lease the land directly will be proposed for the project.

If the project does not require a plan amendment or a deviation decision, the possibility to lease the land and purchase the buildings directly will be proposed for the project. In this case, the project must sign the final deed of sale for the buildings and the land lease within six (6) months of the subcommittee’s decision becoming legally valid.

If a planning reservation is proposed for the project, a preliminary agreement concerning the purchase of the buildings will be concluded with the project proposed as the recipient of the planning reservation. The final deed of sale for the buildings and the final land lease will be concluded once the possible detailed plan amendment or deviation decision required by the project has been confirmed and the project has obtained the permits required for its activities. The above-mentioned land lease requires a separate decision by the Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee.

In addition to the project site, applicants can also present project plans for the adjacent property 49-45-102-17.
