UUSI KULMA – Culture and nature activities in Uusimaa

The UUSI KULMA (New Angle) project combines cultural and artistic elements with outdoor activities in nature. Over the course of just over a year, nature excursions will be organised, during which local artists will present, for example, musical performances, dance sessions or poetry readings in nearby natural sites. The activities will begin in spring 2026 in Espoo, Karkkila, Lohja and Siuntio. The project is co-funded through the Supporting Sustainable Growth and Vitality in the Regions (AKKE) grant issued by the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council.

About the project

The project combines cultural and artistic elements with outdoor activities in nature. The project involves nature excursions during which local artists carry out musical performances, dance sessions or poetry readings in nearby natural sites.

Excursions led by local artists and nature guides will be carried out over the course of just over a year. Events will be held year-round in Espoo, Lohja, Karkkila and Siuntio until 31 May 2027.

Project target groups

The target groups of the activities are people in mental health and substance use rehabilitation, older people and immigrants.

Project goals

The project activities will strengthen the social inclusion, wellbeing and functional capacity of persons belonging to the target groups. The project will pilot new ways of delivering cultural services in nature-based settings. In addition, the project offers employment opportunities for local artists and small entrepreneurs in the nature sector.

The project is implemented by the City of Espoo’s Cultural Promotion and Partnerships service area.
