The City of Espoo has insured pupils in basic education and students in general upper secondary schools for accidents occurring in school and during the school commute. The City of Espoo has insured children attending municipal early childhood education and pre-primary education against accidents that happen during early childhood education activities and outings and the journeys between a child’s home and early childhood education unit.
The insurance also applies to outsourced early childhood education, early childhood education club activities, and activities organised by residents’ parks during their opening hours.
The group accident insurance for early childhood education is provided by Pohjola Insurance. The insurance covers travel, examination and treatment costs resulting from accidents when the child receives care in a public sector health care unit.
In the event of an accident, you can take your child to a health centre or dental clinic of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County or a HUS unit.
If your child has an accident on their way to or from their early childhood education unit, you must notify the child’s early childhood education unit of the accident immediately. This way, the early childhood education unit can report the accident to the insurance company.
You can seek compensation for costs incurred by filing a claim through Pohjola’s Claims Service (hae-korvausta.op.fi). To report the costs, you need a claim code (vahinkotunnus) that you can request from your child’s early childhood education unit.
