Espoonlahti school

Espoonlahden koulu is a lower secondary school (grades 7–9) attended by some 400 pupils. The school invests in the wellbeing of the school community, for example through pupil council and peer support activities. The school has been rewarded in the Mayor’s Innovation Competition with an honorary mention for developing an anti-bullying tool and taking systematic measures to prevent bullying.

Iivisniemen koulu is a primary school in Iivisniemi, in the Espoonlahti area. In addition to general education, the school offers pre-primary, small-group and preparatory education. Some 360 pupils attend the school.

The Jalavapuisto school (Jalavapuiston koulu) is a diverse primary school located close to Espoon keskus. Some 310 pupils attend the school. In addition to mainstream education (grades 1-6), our school offers bilingual education (Eng-Fin) (grades 1-6), preparatory education (grades 3-6) and special needs education classes (grades 1-9). 

Student participation is considered important in our school and an example of this is when you arrive to our school and the the primary guidance tour is given by our students.

The Jupperi primary school (Jupperin koulu) has about 500 pupils in grades 1–6. Our school utilises pupil-oriented pedagogy and flexible teaching groups. Pupil participation is considered important and our pupils are provided with many different participation and influencing opportunities concerning both their own actions and the operations of the entire school.

Matinlahti school

About 550 students attend Matinlahti school (Matinlahden koulu) (grades 1 to 6). They speak many different languages. Our teaching arrangements are flexible, and we flexibly integrate students from small groups to the ordinary groups in many subjects. The school is surrounded by nature, but it is still close to services such as the library and sports fields.

Mattlidens school

Mattlidens skola is a Swedish-language comprehensive primary school with grades 1–9. The school has over 780 students and 80 teachers. Mattliden School is part of the Mattliden School Center, which includes daycare, preschool, primary school, and high school, all located on the same campus.

Meritori school

Meritori School is a primary school with students from grades 1 to 6. There are about 360 students in our school. Our school has a natural science-mathematical emphasis that students can apply for from the third grade onwards. Our school has been involved in the local school pilot project and with the principle of inclusion, special education students study more and more integrated in general education. Our school also implements strength-based pedagogy, which guides us to notice the strengths and successes of the students.

Almost half of our school's students do not speak Finnish as their mother tongue. Some of our students have lived in Finland for less than a year and have come from conflict areas. We have two preparatory education groups, where newly arrived students and children who are not proficient in Finnish study. Many of our students come to school from two different homes, many of their guardians are unemployed. On the other hand, people come to study with us from other parts of Espoo because of the natural science-mathematical emphasis. The students of the mathematic-natural science-oriented education includes both Finnish as their mother tongue and Finnish as a second language speakers. These learners are selected for the upwardly differentiated group through entrance exams. Our school also has a considerable number of special and intensified support students in general education groups and small groups.

Meritori has a history of working in international projects, both welcoming groups to visit and going abroad ourselves. There are about 10 visiting groups in Meritori every year. The last big Erasmus+ project that was done considered emphasised STEM teaching to all classes. We also take part in national projects such as a global-education project in 2022-2023.  A new literature Erasmus+ project starts in our school during the 2024 school year.

The Niittykumpu primary school (Niittykummun koulu) is a diverse primary school of about 400 pupils. The school operates on new, comfortable and spacious premises in the Tapiola major district with excellent transport connections. 



In addition to mainstream education in grades 1–6, our school offers bilingual education (Eng-Fin), Montessori education, preparatory education and special education. For a long time now, our school has invested in co-teaching, community and increasing participation.

The school has pupils from preschool to grade 9 and groups for preparatory education, small-group teaching of immigrants, teaching for rehabilitating learning difficulties, personalised education, Montessori education and teaching organised by action area. 



We also have a strong tradition of utilising co-teaching in the engaging of our pupils. Our school has peer mediation and support student activities. Our school is linguistically aware and happy to welcome visitors.
