This article series presents cases of innovations built here in Espoo that strive for a better tomorrow for all.
The City of Espoo wanted to enhance swimming instruction for school groups, particularly benefiting pupils who do not speak Finnish or Swedish by using video material during swimming lessons as a complementary feature to the in-person education.
The pilot done together with the startup Hydrohex resulted in more effective instruction and increased practice time, with pupils finding it easier to observe and understand the exercises. The language-neutral videos were particularly significant for non-Finnish or non-Swedish speaking pupils and received praise for their clarity, aiding also in the inclusion of refugee schoolchildren.
