Just like the day shall begin and end
Written by Emma Degerlund
Just like the day shall begin and end, just like the sun shall rise seemingly just to fall, just as the rain shall pour from clouds back into the streams- as so shall a human meet their end.
The solemn music playing at the funeral shall be a constant reminder of the ache in the people's hearts. A terrible anchor to what they wish to escape. Because no matter how many times the sun shall fall behind the horizon and the day shall end, humans will never be ready to bid farewell.
The flowers in their hands shall seem to bear a mocking beauty, for why shall something be so beautiful and seemingly peaceful when the flame of life has flickered out in someone, when the sun has set for the final time in their eyes, when they have lived their last day and taken their last breath.
Humans will mourn, and try to let go, but a piece of the dead shall always cling to those who tell their tales, whispered words in hushed conversation or a loud speech in front of an audience.
But just like the humans don't know where they will end up, a day is forever gone, the sun is uncertain whether it will rise again and the droplets of rain wonder where they are going to fall.
And just like the day, the sun and the water, so shall the humans remain in the sweet mix of agony and bliss of not knowing what awaits.
