For Espoo Day, on Saturday 31 August, Tontunmäki-seura is organising an event for the whole family.

“The Tontunmäki meadows are brimming with natural beauty, and we are pleased that the Espoo Day event can be held there,” says Ann-Mari Sandholm, a member of Tontunmäki-seura’s executive committee.

You can pop by alone, with a friend, or with your family, or stay for a longer while. Getting there is easy.

“If you come by public transport, you can get off at Urheilupuisto. From there, the meadows are only a few hundred metres away.”
There’s live music suitable for everyone, a magician for children, yoga for adults, and other fun and varied activities.

“The idea is to get people to have fun, enjoy the nearby nature, and, at the same time, get to know the other residents of the area,” says Sandholm.

If you get hungry, you can buy snacks and drinks from the buffet. There are benches where you can enjoy your meal, follow the programme and socialise.

While Tontunmäki-seura has experience in organising various events, this is the organisation’s first time setting up an event for Espoo Day.

“We were excited when we saw the opportunity to organise an event in our own area. Shared events are important for residents’ everyday wellbeing and for creating a sense of community.”

Sandholm says that the best part is that people get to know each other: the next time they meet, they can greet each other and chat for a moment.

“Although organising the event is a lot of work, the joyful atmosphere and receiving thanks from participants for a nice day are rewarding.”

Celebration for all Espoo residents
