The Exhibition Centre WeeGee offers something to see and experience for people of all ages. The WeeGee building includes EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art and KAMU Espoo City Museum.

In 2006, the Weilin+Göös printing house was reborn as the Exhibition Centre WeeGee. Today, the vibrant Exhibition Centre is the fourth most popular Museum Card destination in Finland.

Birgit Kyytsönen from Espoo visits WeeGee’s exhibitions almost weekly. She has a Kaikukortti card that grants her free admission. Sometimes she spends a long time at the exhibitions and other times she just drops by.

“If you study the works longer, you get new insights into them and always find something new,” Kyytsönen says.

While admiring Collection Kakkonen, an extensive collection of design and art owned by businessman and art collector Kyösti Kakkonen, Kyytsönen may ponder how renowned artists have become popular. However, she is most fascinated by glass art. She remembers especially a video about glass blowing, which showed how a piece of glass was turned into a work of art.

Recently, Kyytsönen has explored the colourful paintings and sculptures of American artist Tschabalala Self. The details catch her eye, especially when she takes her time to examine the works.

“If a work has a name, it automatically affects the thoughts of a viewer. That’s why it’s particularly interesting to see untitled works and guess what the artist wanted to say with them.”
