The two-day political strike announced by the trade union JHL will affect the Espoo Catering meal services for schools and kindergartens from February 13 to 14, 2024. The reason for the industrial action is the Finnish government's proposals to weaken working life. This industrial action is not aimed at Espoo Catering as an employer.

During the strike, we are unable to accommodate special diets. For safety reasons, we ask guardians to provide snacks that can be kept warm for children and young people following a special diet. Others are also welcome to bring their own snacks if they wish.

During the JHL strike, in daycare centers open during the strike, we will offer at least a cold breakfast, a cold snack-type lunch, or warm porridge, depending on the employee situation. Snack options may include smoothies, bread, cold cuts, and a beverage. Additionally, in schools and high schools, we will provide at least a cold snack-type lunch. School snack sales cannot be organized. The cafeterias at Valtuustotalo (council building) and Tapiola health center will be closed from February 13 to February 14, 2024.

The meal services of the welfare area of Länsi-Uusimaa are exempt from the strike.

Please note that the strike will cause changes to the menu for weeks 7 and 8, also due to other simultaneous strikes.
