Collaboration with Baltic Sea region 

This article series presents cases of innovations built here in Espoo that strive for a better tomorrow for all.

In the current global environment, Espoo has also made the strategic decision to focus on building good collaboration between European cities in the Baltic Sea Region. Mutual understanding, culture as a community builder, and stronger city-to-city connections in the Baltic Sea Region is at the core of Espoo’s chairmanship 2024–2025 in the Cultural Commission of the Union of Baltic Cities network. Espoo aims to share its best practices from the Espoo City Library, known for its globally awarded community-building and literacy-enhancing activities. Additionally, Espoo seeks to highlight the role of cultural education, creativity in kindergartens, and other community-enhancing initiatives. The future collaboration will include a strong focus also on youth and the future of the Baltic Sea as part of Europe.
