The open events at the Otaniemi campus invite residents to participate.

“Otaniemi’s cultural-historical environment and Alvar Aalto’s architecture create a gorgeous setting for different events. The campus is known as an international and youthful event area, and new modern facilities have been built here in recent years,” says Jessica Sinikoski, Communications Manager at Aalto University.

Otaniemi is particularly known for its student events, but in recent years, new festivals and events have also emerged in the area, such as the Visio festival.

“This year marks the 15th anniversary of Aalto University, and to celebrate we are organising the Aalto Ahaa lecture series and the Aalto University Junior Science Theatre, in cooperation with the City of Espoo. These events are open to the public.”

The Aalto Ahaa events are aimed at citizens who are curious about science and the state of the world. The event series is a gift from the City of Espoo to the 15-year-old university and to Espoo residents, offering them the opportunity to participate in low-threshold events.

The cooperation aims to make the Otaniemi campus and its offerings more accessible to all Espoo residents and to bring Aalto University’s activities closer to the community. The common goal is to showcase Otaniemi and Espoo as interesting places to visit and experience.

In April, the Otaniemi campus will be filled with traditional student May Day events, which may last several weeks.
“Otaniemi Wappu is a public event open to all Espoo residents. Wappu events are organised by students and the AYY Aalto University Student Union.”
