Boosting recruitment and induction with VR solutions

In response to the national challenges posed by labor shortages, Espoo is committed to finding innovative solutions to streamline recruitment and onboarding, particularly in sectors facing a scarcity of applicants. This year, we are investigating the effectiveness of a game-like application in enhancing both onboarding processes and the employer image at the City’s Premises Department.
The experiment is a two-fold collaborative effort between the City of Espoo and the VR startup Virtual Dawn: firstly, a game being tested is played with a VR headset to onboard employees and after that a game to support recruitment is developed. The objective of the experiment is to determine whether innovative digital solutions are effective in onboarding and recruitment, addressing especially the complexities posed by the diverse tasks of property managers and the varying language proficiency levels of new hires.
