Our school

Leppävaara Upper Secondary School is located in Leppävaara, which is close to the capital, Helsinki. The school has about 700 students. The school offers effective all-round education. We have an open and encouraging atmosphere for studying and utilize modern technology.
Leppävaara general upper secondary school has a sports programme. Altogether 200 of our students participate in professional sports coaching. The programme has separate admissions. We provide high-quality and flexible opportunities for combining professional sports and upper secondary studies. Our school co-operates with the Capital Region Sports Academy URHEA. All students enjoy our versatile selection of sports courses, for example hiking-course in Nuuksio. Our school also provides eSport-training together with Metropolia and Incoach.
In many subjects, applied studies are offered. In natural sciences, for example, it is possible to complete work studies, in mathematics, one can immerse oneself in symbolic computation. In Finnish, history, religion/ethics and other sciences, one can participate in debating studies. We also offer creative writing studies in Finnish and English. As regards music, we offer studies in music technology and students can join band. One history course visits Berlin and in physics, there has been an opportunity to participate in a CERN-course. In addition, one can complete a general upper secondary education diploma in visual arts, dance and sports.
We have several Erasmus-projects going on. Leppävaara Upper Secondary School has been accredited from 1.3.2021 until 2027. Our latest Erasmus Project: Social development, well-being and Global citizenship 2021 -
Learning Mobility of Individuals 2022-: job shadowing and training courses for teachers
Co-operation with Germany 2022-: Veldenz-Gymnasiumin (Lauterecken)
Short-term learning mobility of pupils 2023-: Italy, Spain and Sweden
Erasmus guests and other international guests: Our high school has received several teachers in the last five years to do job shadowing and students to do individual exchange at our school.

Group leading
Group leading on Wednesday (see below) at 13.00 -13.30/45. The afternoon lessons start at 13.45 and at 15.00, a little break between lessons!
Group leading days 2025-2026: 7th Aug, 27th Aug, 22nd Oct, 12th Nov, 10th Dec, 14th Jan, 11th Feb, 11th March, 15th Apr and 13th May.
Group leading is an important part of your studies. During these meetings your group leader will update you on your studies and school events.
