Tapiola Sinfonietta
The Tapiola Sinfonietta is an internationally recognised chamber orchestra with 44 permanent members. Its diverse repertoire extends from classical music to cross-discipline joint productions. In its function as the municipal orchestra of the City of Espoo, it engages in audience outreach work to find listeners at child care clinics, schools, hospitals and nursing homes. Established in 1987, the orchestra is in charge of its own programme planning and often performs without a conductor. Its close collaboration with Artists in Association, Artists in Residence and many of the most prominent conductors and soloists of our time mainly manifests itself in the 60 or so concerts given every year. Most of the concerts are given at the Espoo Cultural Centre. The orchestra also regularly appears at festivals in Finland and has toured Europe, Asia and the USA. The digital channels of the Tapiola Sinfonietta reach listeners worldwide, and many of the more than 70 titles in the orchestra's discography have received international awards.
