Summer Job Voucher

Every year, Youth Services offers summer job vouchers intended to promote the employment of young people in Espoo during the summer. The City of Espoo will pay EUR 300 to all employers who hire a young Espoo resident between 1 May and 30 September using a summer job voucher.

Summer job vouchers are available as of 5 February 2024, and young people must apply for a voucher themselves. Please note that you must already have a summer job lined up when you apply for a summer job voucher (an employment contract or the summer job information form filled in by your employer).

In 2024, summer job vouchers are available to young Espoo residents born between 2005 and 2009.

  • The minimum pay is EUR 500 for 60 hours of work.
  • If the young person does more work, their pay needs to be higher than the minimum pay.
  • Indirect employee costs must be paid in addition to the actual wage.
  • The young person must do at least 60 hours of work, either consecutively or divided into several periods.
  • The employer cannot be a private household, a family or a private person.

The young person must already have a summer job when they apply for a summer job voucher.

The minimum net pay is EUR 500. If the young person works for a longer period, their pay needs to be higher than the minimum pay. The employer will also have to pay taxes, social insurance and pension contributions and holiday compensation, in addition to the minimum net pay of EUR 500.

How to apply for a summer job voucher:

  1. Open the Webropol link below (also works on a phone). The link will become available on 5 February 2024 at 8:00.
  2. Fill in each section of the form carefully.
  3. Add your completed summer job information form or your employment contract (either a file or a photo).
  4. Once you have filled in the form and sent it, you will receive an email confirmation that you have applied for a summer job voucher. If you do not receive a confirmation, check your junk mail folder.
  5. Your information will be checked and your summer job voucher number will be sent to you by email in May at the latest.

For the employer

The employer must apply for reimbursement of a summer job voucher through an online system between 28 June and 30 November 2024, after paying the young person’s wages and holiday compensation.
