Montessori education
On this page, you can find instructions for applying to montessori education.
Montessori education is arranged in grades 1-6 in Ruusutorpan koulu and Niittykummun koulu.
THE APPLICATION PERIOD HAS ENDED!
Enrolling in the 1st grade and applying for Montessori education takes place through the electronic Wilma service between 9th and 19th January 2024 by filling in the form Application for 1st grade of Comprehensive School. If you are unable to use the Wilma service, you can fill in the paper form. The paper form must be submitted by 19 January 2024 at the latest to the following address: The Finnish Education Unit, Administrative services Sara Raitala, P.O. Box 31, FI-02070 City of Espoo.

Entrance examinations
- No entrance examination.
Means of delivery for the decision
You can choose the means of delivery for the decision when filling in the form ’Application for 1st grade of comprehensive school’. There are two options:
- The decision will be published in Wilma on 26 April, 2024. The decision will not be delivered by post.
- The decision will be mailed on 26 April, 2024. The decision will not be published in Wilma.
It is possible to choose only one. The choice is binding!

Entrance examinations
- No entrance examination.
1st grade admission
Pupils will be admitted in the following order of priority:
- Applicants who have participated in Montessori education at daycare and have a sister/brother in a Montessori class at the school at the time the decision is made.
- Applicants who have participated in Montessori education at daycare but do not have a sister/brother in a Montessori class at the school at the time the decision is made.
- Applicants who have not participated in Montessori education at daycare but have a sister/brother in a Montessori class at the school at the time the decision is made.
- Applicants who have not participated in Montessori education at daycare and do not have a sister/brother in a Montessori class at the school at the time the decision is made.
If there are more applicants who fulfil the admission criteria than there are available study places, a draw will be carried out between applicants in categories 1 and 2 above. If there are still places left after all the applicants who are residents of Espoo and fulfil the admission criteria have been admitted, applicants who are residents of other municipalities can be selected in the order determined by the admission criteria.
2nd–6th grade admission
It is required that the applicant has studied in Montessori education at another school in Espoo or elsewhere immediately before applying for Montessori education. Pupils will be admitted in the following order of priority:
- Applicants who have participated in Montessori education at another school in Espoo or elsewhere immediately before applying and have a sister/brother in a Montessori class at the school at the time the decision is made. If there are more applicants who fulfil the admission criteria than there are available study places, a draw will be carried out between applicants.
- Applicants who have participated in Montessori education at another school in Espoo or elsewhere immediately before applying but do not have a sister/brother in a Montessori class at the school at the time the decision is made. If there are more applicants who fulfil the admission criteria than there are available study places, a draw will be carried out between applicants.
