The Espoo medal has been awarded to 13 people in recognition of their work for the benefit of the City of Espoo.The 2021 Espoo medals will be presented at the Independence Day Gala Concert available online on 6 Dec at 14:30.
The recipients of the Espoo medal are:
- Ilkka Alanko, musician
- Kaj-Olavi Alén & Rita Kanervo, Bemböle Coffee House entrepreneurs
- Max Grönholm, entrepreneur and fishmonger
- Inka Hopsu, City Council member
- Arja Juvonen, City Council member
- Kalevi Kivistö, Minister
- Antti Kujanpää, Cathedral Dean
- Leena Nio, artist
- Annina Rajahuhta, ice hockey player
- Emil Soravuo, artistic gymnast
- Topi Turunen, City of Espoo’s infectious disease physician
- Satu Tyry-Salo, Director of Communications
- Antti Vasara, Doctor of Science (Tech.), President & CEO
The Espoo medal, designed by medal artist Kauko Räsänen, has been awarded to more than 500 people since 1972 in recognition of their work for the benefit of the city. The recipients are chosen by the medal committee of the City of Espoo.
