Haukilahti housing unit

The Haukilahti housing unit includes two group homes for permanent residents. One of them offers intensified sheltered housing (supervision at night) and the other offers strongly supported housing (no supervision at night) for Espoo residents with intellectual disabilities. The unit's residents include individuals who, due to ageing or limited functional capacity, need a lot of help, care and/or guidance as well as support in all daily activities. Each resident is responsible for furnishing and decorating their room. The unit also includes shared lounges, a dining area, laundry rooms and a sauna. The residents conclude a tenancy agreement with the City of Espoo's Premises Department. All residents are responsible for their personal expenses (phone, newspapers and magazines, medication, personal hygiene products). Meal fees and an upkeep fee may be charged from the residents. Clients are referred to the unit based on a service needs assessment by the social work unit of Disability Services and an assessment by the SAS working group (selvitä, arvioi, sijoita = investigate, assess and place). The unit's residents receive comprehensive individual support and guidance as well as the required care and supervision around the clock. The unit offers support, guidance, care and assistance related to daily activities, medication, hygiene, household chores, nutrition, health, social relationships and leisure activities. The residents participate in daily activities depending on their functional capacity.
