Notification of concern about an Espoo resident over the age of 65

You can report an elderly person if you are concerned about their well-being, health or safety. The fastest and easiest way to raise a notification of concern is to call or send an e-mail to the Nestori guidance and service counselling for senior citizens.

When should you raise a notification of concern?

The purpose of the notification of concern is to ensure that elderly people receive the care they need even if they do not know to ask for it themselves. You can report an elderly person if you are concerned about their well-being, health or safety.

Who can raise a notification?

Any private person can submit a notification. We recommend telling the person you are concerned about that you are about to submit a notification.

How do I submit a notification?

  • You can report your concern about an Espoo resident over 65 years of age to the Nestori guidance and service counselling for senior citizens by telephone or e-mail. The contact information is at the bottom of the page.
  • If you know the social security number of the person in need of help, you can submit an electronic notification of concern (extrernal link)(in Finnish). If you submit an electronic notification using the form, select the Nestori guidance and service counselling for senior citizens as the unit.
  • The Social and Crisis Emergency Services will be available in urgent matters around the clock.
  • If the situation is life-threatening, call the emergency number 112.

What happens after the notification?

The notification of concern is processed every weekday. We will contact the senior citizen based on the notification to establish their situation and need for services. Social and health care authorities are bound by confidentiality, so we cannot disclose any personal information to the person who raises the notification of concern.

Notification instructions for professionals

Social and health care professionals have a duty to report if they have concerns about the health, safety or well-being of a person they encounter in the course of their work. We hope that professionals primarily use the electronic notification of concern(extrernal link) (form in Finnish). When filling in the electronic notification form, select the Nestori guidance and service counselling for senior citizens as the unit.  If submitting an electronic notification is not possible, professionals can also submit a notification of concern about elderly people by calling or sending an e-mail to the Nestori guidance and service counselling for senior citizens.
