Fourth dose of coronavirus vaccine for over 80-year-olds and elderly nursing home residents

The fourth dose can be administered after 3 months have passed since the third dose. We recommend that elderly people get their fourth dose as soon as possible. This will boost the level of protection among the elderly now that the epidemic is at its peak. At our nursing homes for the elderly, a fourth dose is recommended for everyone without a specific age limit.

If an over 80-year-old or an elderly nursing home resident has received three vaccine doses and has had the coronavirus disease, they do not need a fourth dose at this point.

If an over 80-year-old or an elderly nursing home resident has received two vaccine doses and has had the coronavirus disease, a third dose is recommended 3 months after they had the disease or received the previous dose, whichever happened most recently.

At the moment, the fourth dose is not available without booking an appointment. Nursing home residents get vaccinated at the unit where they live. Other people aged 80 and over can call our appointment booking number, tel. +358 9 81634800 (Mon–Fri 8:00–18:00), and leave a call-back request.

If a person’s functional capacity is reduced and they are unable to visit a vaccination site, they can get vaccinated at home. You can inquire about vaccination at home through Nestori, tel. +358 9 81633333, nestori@espoo.fi. The telephone service is open Mon–Fri 9:00–15:00.

Our staff at Nestori will interview the person to be vaccinated or their family member and examine their patient information. Based on this information, our staff will instruct the client to visit a vaccination site or will give advice on how to get vaccinated at home.
