At the Attendo Laaksolahti nursing home for the elderly, five staff members and seven residents in three group homes have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. One of these residents has died. Infections have not been diagnosed in the other group homes. All residents of the nursing home have been tested and their families have been contacted.

The City of Espoo’s Infectious Disease Unit has placed all exposed persons in quarantine. All infected residents and staff members have been placed in isolation.

“I would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of the resident who passed away,” says Markus Paananen, Director of Health Services.

Nursing home residents are elderly and fragile, and the coronavirus disease may be fatal to them. Therefore, we would like to remind you that it is still important to be careful when visiting nursing homes and elderly people.
