The risk of contracting the coronavirus has increased as the highly contagious delta variant has become the dominant variant in Finland. The changes that occur in an expectant mother’s body during pregnancy increase the risk of serious illness.

Coronavirus infection during pregnancy may also increase the likelihood of premature birth. The coronavirus vaccine is an effective way of preventing especially severe coronavirus disease and its possible consequences. According to a study conducted by the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), vaccination does not increase the risk of miscarriage.

You can get vaccinated at any stage during pregnancy, and you do not have to postpone trying to get pregnant because of the vaccination.
