Take a summer trip to Pentala

Pentala Archipelago Museum is once again open in summer from 4 June to 31 August. The museum features plenty to see as well as an enchanting nature trail right next to the museum. You can access the museum on your own boat or one of the archipelago boats, which will be running until the first day of August for the first time this year. It is a good idea to reserve plenty of time for the visit, since you can also take a swim in the sea or a lake at Pentala. The yard area of the museum also includes a pen with sheep enjoying their summer holiday. The archipelago goats run Tue–Sun until 31 August.

Experience art and culture with the Kaikukortti card

Kaikukortti provides those in difficult financial situations with more opportunities to enjoy art, culture and a variety of hobbies. The card can be used to obtain free tickets to Espoo-based museums, concerts, theatres and festivals, for example. One way to find events that are to your liking is to type the search term ‘Kaikukortti’ in the event search. Persons over the age of 16 are eligible for the Kaikukortti card. To receive the card, you need a customer contact with a community or service that distributes them.

Midsummer week in Espoonlahti

For the entire Midsummer week, the Greater Espoonlahti area will be a place to get into the summer spirit. The Hanikka Recreation Centre in Soukka will pave the way to Midsummer celebrations on 12 June in the form of a dance event and workshops for making flower wreaths and maypoles. Hanikka’s Summer Tuesdays bring a wide variety of cultural programming to the recreation centre every Tuesday evenin 7 June–9 August 2022. The Espoonlahti pre-Midsummer party provides a raucous early start to the Midsummer weekend on the Solmutori square by the Lippulaiva shopping centre on Thursday 23 June. The programme will include outdoor Karaoke, festive Midsummer atmosphere and seasonal activities for people of all ages. The event will be organised by the City of Espoo's Event and Cultural Services in cooperation with the Lippulaiva shopping centre and Lippulaiva Library. On Midsummer’s Eve, you can bathe in a sauna and grill any suitable foodstuffs you bring along.

Outdoor activities through the library!

If you only play disc golf a few times per summer, it might not be feasible to purchase the equipment – especially since you can now borrow it from the library. Each disc golf bag available for borrowing has enough equipment for two. You can check equipment availability on Helmet.fi and pick up the gear! You can also borrow other useful and engaging items in the libraries of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. A word of warning, though: the list is long.
