Pink Twins, or artists Jusu and Vesa Vehviläinen, create their art by combining electronic music, visual and video arts and digital technology. The large, psychedelic video installations and stunning live performances have charmed art galleries and music festivals around the world. The duo’s electronic music is connected to noise, dub and psychedelia – and now even jazz as the duo are joined by the robust sound of the 18-members-strong UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra.

Angelo Badalament and David Lynch’s legendary ‘Twin Peaks’ tunes such as ‘Laura Palmer’s Theme’ and ‘Falling’ come alive in these new arrangements for a big band and electronics. Contrasts meet and elements crash into one another when the electronic duo is enhanced by the acoustic big band – or vice versa. The arrangements are by Mikko Hassisen, the orchestra is led by Ed Partyka. The vocals are by Kadi Vija. The animations inspired by ‘Twin Peaks’ are made by Pink Twins for this concert.

Pink Twins is an artist duo from Helsinki that in their video installations combine visual arts and music. Pink Twins comprises the brothers Juha Vehviläinen (b. 1978) and Vesa Vehviläinen (b. 1974). The duo was an Ars Fennica nominee in 2015. Pink Twins’ work ‘Infinity’ (2017) is part of Kiasma’s permanent collection of online art.

Kadi Vija is a gifted vocal artist who creates fresh jazz and improvised music. Her unique approach to singing and interpretation is influenced by instrumental jazz music, stream of consciousness, and abstractness. Vija uses the language of melodies, tones and ideas to tell stories.

UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra is a professional jazz and rhythm music orchestra that performs annually at about a hundred concerts and events. Since 1975, UMO Helsinki have released 60 albums and they have performed with Finnish stars and international jazz phenomena. Please note! Some of the video animations contain strong, flashing lights and images that can trigger a migraine or an epileptic seizure.
