The planning and implementation of pre-primary education is guided by the national core curriculum for pre-primary education and the Espoo pre-primary education curriculum (in Finnish)(external link, opens in a new window). In addition, a more detailed school year plan and pre-primary education curriculum are prepared for each group.

Learning plan for a child’s pre-primary education

An individual learning plan for pre-primary education is prepared for each child. The plan is prepared together with the child’s parents/guardians.

Pupil welfare

According to the Basic Education Act, all children attending pre-primary education are entitled to pupil welfare services. In pre-primary education, pupil welfare services are well-planned and preventive to ensure the safety and well-being of the entire pre-primary education unit. Each day-care centre and school that provides pre-primary education has a pupil welfare team. Each child in pre-primary education is also entitled to receive individual pupil welfare services and multidisciplinary pupil welfare with the consent of their parent/guardian.
