In July, the number of children enrolled for early childhood education is almost the same as in previous years. However, in view of the current situation, we will keep more units open this summer than before. School year 2020-2021 begins in general upper secondary schools and Finnish speaking comprehensive schools as well as in Finnish Pre-primary Education on Thursday 13th of August. Swedish-speaking comprehensive schools start back up on 18th of August.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION IN SUMMER

Day Care Centres

In July, the number of children enrolled for early childhood education is almost the same as in previous years. However, in view of the current situation, we will keep more units open this summer than before. This will ensure that there is more space in groups. Children will be in small groups and the use of facilities will be phased. We will enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. Good hand hygiene will remain a top priority. We also ask guardians to avoid visiting inside day-care centres to reduce contact.

In summer just like at other times, you must not come to early childhood education when ill. If a child becomes ill during the day, s/he should be picked up as soon as possible and, in case of a suspected coronavirus exposure, taken to be tested.

Residents’ parks

From 22 June to 31 July there will be 5 residents’ parks open:

Parks will be open on weekdays from 8am to 4pm. You must not visit parks when ill.

Outdoors only – take your own outdoor toys with you

Only outdoor facilities are open. Remember to keep the necessary safety distances. This is why activities such as playing in the water or barbecuing are not possible this summer.

The indoor facilities of residents’ parks will remain closed. However, you may use the toilet facilities when needed, but in this case too the safety distance of 2m and good coughing and hand hygiene must be observed.

The toy storages in residents’ parks will remain closed for the time being. So please take your own outdoor toys with you.

No more than 50 people in a park at any one time

The aim is to limit the number of people in the parks to a maximum of 50 persons (children, guardians and staff) at any one time. Gatherings and assemblies must be avoided. The staff will monitor the number of people in the parks, but the responsibility for the safe use of residents’ parks is also with customers.

A red mark at the gate to any residents’ park indicates when the park has temporarily reached its maximum capacity.

Service Counselling

The service counselling of early childhood education will have reduced opening hours from 18 June to 24 July. During the summer, our number 09 816 31000 will be open Mon–Fri 9:00–12:00.
