In the future, Western Uusimaa Transport Services will provide transport services under the Act on Disability Services and Assistance and the Social Welfare Act throughout the Western Uusimaa region. The service was scheduled to start in November 2020, but due to our procurement process we will have to postpone the launch. The checking of the required vehicle details and extracts from criminal records has taken longer than expected, and a procurement decision has not yet been made.
According to a preliminary schedule, the service will start gradually in December and January. The current transport services will be available to clients until the new service starts. Clients will receive a letter containing instructions on how to use the service, new contact information and an exact date when Western Uusimaa Transport Services will start providing services for them. Before the new service starts, information events will be held for customers and drivers.
Transport Services provides services for people who cannot use public transport without unreasonable difficulty. In the Western Uusimaa region, there are 6,300 clients who use transport services under the Act on Disability Services and Assistance and 2,000 clients who use the services under the Social Welfare Act. In total 500,000 rides are provided annually.
