Housing and services

At the moment, most of the people living in Otaniemi are students. There are plans to build new housing particularly near Keilaniemi to functionally connect these districts together.

The aim is to create a lively urban environment in Otaniemi and Keilaniemi where housing, jobs and services meet excellent public transport connections. The lowest floors of the apartment blocks in the Kivimies area will include premises for services and growth companies.

The metro connects Otaniemi with Keilaniemi, the rest of Espoo and the capital region. The future Jokeri Light Rail line will also serve passengers thanks to the three stops it will have in Otaniemi. The line will terminate at Keilaniemi.

The shopping centre A Bloc provides services at the heart of the Otaniemi campus area. The extensive commercial, public and cultural services of Tapiola are also just a short distance away.

A new pedestrian and bicycle traffic route will be built to pass under Kuusisaarentie towards Keilaniemi.

In Otaniemi, nature is always near. The Natura 2000 site in Laajalahti, the Nature House Villa Elfvik and several walking and cycling routes invite everyone to enjoy the great outdoors.
