Housing and services

Kauklahti has some 10,000 inhabitants, and the district is growing rapidly. The City of Espoo is planning the construction of a new, dense residential area near the Kauklahti station in the Lasihytti industrial and warehouse site. The plans include diverse commercial, work and service premises and homes for 4,000–5,000 people.

Kauklahti is served by excellent train and bus connections. The City Rail Link that is currently being planned would also reach Kauklahti. Its construction still depends on whether an investment decision will be made.

Kauklahti has many municipal services, such as day-care centres, schools, a resident park and a library. There are also numerous private services. The service offering continues to improve as the number of residents grows.

The village-like Kauklahti also has several brick-and-mortar shops. The oldest company in the food sector is Halmeen leipomo, a bakery founded in the 19th century.

Not only is Kauklahti itself close to nature, but its Lasilaakso neighbourhood also includes the nature reserve of Fiskarsinmäki. Its bird-watching tower is excellent for observing birdlife. The natural environment is equally beautiful and diverse in the historically important district of Espoonkartano. Kauklahti also offers great riding opportunities.
