The Greater Kauklahti area is located by the coastal railway and includes the districts of Kauklahti, Vanttila, Kurttila and Espoonkartano. Kauklahti also has some shoreline. It is one of the earliest local centres in Espoo.
Now the home of some 10,000 inhabitants, Kauklahti attracts both returnees and new residents. New homes are being planned for the area. Its service offering is already versatile, and more services will become available as the number of residents increases.
As Kauklahti lies in the delta of the Espoonjoki and Mankinjoki rivers, the natural environment there is magnificent and diverse. The nature reserve of Fiskarsinmäki is also there, offering great opportunities for bird-watching.
