Espoonlahden keskus, the urban centre of Espoonlahti, is being renewed. The goal is to build it into a lively urban centre whose excellent services are easy to reach from all parts of the Greater Espoonlahti area.
The construction of the new Lippulaiva shopping centre is under way. The new Lippulaiva will be twice as large as the previous one. The modern Lippulaiva will include shops, cafés and restaurants as well as municipal and health services.

The construction of the Espoonlahti metro station has already begun. The new metro station and bus terminal will be directly linked to the shopping centre. The metro line will be opened in 2023. You can follow the construction of the metro in the Espoonlahti area on the West Metro website.
The construction of several apartment buildings is scheduled to begin in Espoonlahti in the near future, for example along Espoonlahdenkatu and by the Maininkipuisto park. A new superblock for some 2,000 residents will be built on the plot of the former Mårtensbro skola primary school.
According to the development plan made for the area, new office and business premises will be built on both sides of the Länsiväylä motorway.
In Soukka, infill construction will first take place around the new metro station and along Yläkartanontie. Infill construction is also planned along Alakartanontie. New homes will be built for about 1,000 people.
The entrances to the metro station will be located on Soukantori and by Yläkartanontie.
The goal is to attract some 6,000 new inhabitants to Soukka by 2050. As the population is growing, the City of Espoo is preparing to construct 3–4 day care centres and a joint comprehensive school in the area.
