The planning of the football stadium for Tapiola sports park is continuing. A change of the local detailed plan will be prepared for the northern end of the sports park. The participation and evaluation plan can be viewed from 16 December 2019 to 20 January 2020. The change of the local detailed plan allows for the production of the stadium and the development of the sports park.
On 17 June 2019, the City Board decided that the City of Espoo is responsible for the Tapiola football stadium project, and that the planning will proceed swiftly.
‘In accordance with the City Board decision, the aim is for the work to proceed as swiftly as possible. We aim to ensure funding through the profits from selling land in the area,’ says Head of Technical and Environment Service Olli Isotalo.
The Tapiola football stadium will have capacity for 6,000 spectators. Sports facilities, apartments, and possibly a hotel will be built in connection with the stadium. Outdoor football pitches are also planned for the northern end of the sports park, and the planning of the area will also involve preparations for a multi-purpose hall. The parking spaces for the area will be located underneath the stadium.
Planning based on the wishes and ideas of residents
The future of the Sports park has been envisioned in collaboration with the users of the park and the residents of the region. Valuable materials for the future work have been compiled from residents’ events.
The next information and discussion event about the development of the region will be held at Etelä-Tapiola upper secondary school (Ahertajantie 5) on 9 January 2020 at 5.30 pm. At the event three alternatives for the placement of the stadium and other buildings, for example, will be presented.
