In early March 2019, the services of the Iso Omena Service Centre will expand with the opening of an Employment Corner in a pop-up space. The service will be open to adult job-seekers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 am–2 pm. The exact opening day will be announced later.
The Employment Corner is a combined effort of the City of Espoo’s employment services and the Uusimaa TE Office. It will offer advice and guidance in matters connected to job-seeking and training and, as a low-threshold service, will not require an appointment. The Employment Corner will organise recruitment and training events, for example.
“We want to offer residents of the municipality easily approachable services where they can come and ask for small tips and sparring for job-seekers or how to increase their competence through training. It is our aim that anyone looking for work or training can find concrete paths on how to proceed with our help,” says Service Manager Hilla-Maaria Sipilä.
The service is a cooperation trial of the cities of Espoo, Helsinki and Vantaa as well as the Uusimaa TE Office. Similar employment corners will also be opened in Helsinki and Vantaa. The trial has funding until the end of 2019. Decisions on possible continuation will be done later in the year.
