Season tickets for special groups

SEASON TICKET WRISTBAND TO SWIMMING HALLS FOR SPECIAL GROUPS

Price €35/year.

The wristband is valid at City of Espoo swimming halls for one year, after which it can be recharged. The wristbands are available at swimming hall cash desks. The holder of the wristband must be a resident of Espoo.

Swimming wristbands for special groups granted at swimming halls:

Swimming hall cash desks grant swimming wristbands to members of special groups based on a visual impairment card or a KELA card code on the following grounds:

  • Asthma, KELA card code 203
  • Diabetes, KELA card code 103
  • Epilepsy (diagnosis G40), KELA card code 111
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) (diagnosis G35), KELA card code 109 or 303
  • Parkinson’s disease, KELA card code 110
  • Psychiatric disorders, KELA card code 112 or 188
  • Rheumatism, KELA card code 202
  • Coronary heart disease, KELA card code 206
  • Visual impairment, Visual impairment card

Swimming wristbands for special groups granted at the Sports and Exercise Services offices:

  • Those applying for a wristband based on a medical report (medical certificate, epicrisis) must deliver the documents to Sports and Exercise Services.
  • Based on the medical report, a decision will be sent to the customer’s home address, after which he or she can claim the wristband at the cash desk of the desired swimming hall.
  • The required medical reports must be submitted to Sports and Exercise Services every five years.
  • Swimming hall cash desks cannot grant wristbands for special groups against medical statements.

Grounds for granting swimming wristbands for special groups at Sports and Exercise Services:

  • ADHD (diagnosis F90 or F82), medical certificate
  • Cerebral palsy (CP) (diagnosis G80), medical certificate
  • Specific language impairment (diagnosis F80.1 or F80.2), medical certificate
  • Dystonia, medical certificate
  • Organ transplant patients, medical certificate
  • Progressive central nervous system disorders (diagnosis G10–G13), medical certificate
  • Fibromyalgia, medical certificate
  • Disabled people who have a degree of disability of at least 50% or disability category 11 or above, medical certificate
  • Persons with developmental disabilities, medical certificate or a statement from services for persons with developmental disabilities
  • Muscular disorders (diagnosis G70–G73), medical certificate
  • Hip or knee prosthesis, medical certificate
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) (diagnosis G35), medical certificate
  • Complications from polio, medical certificate
  • Psychiatric disorders, pension decision (B statement on psychiatric grounds)*
  • Morbid obesity BMI 40+ (through exercise guidance) as of 1 January 2016.
  • Sydänlapset heart association, medical certificate
  • Cancer (diagnosis up to 10 years), medical certificate
  • Sleep apnea, medical certificate
  • Disabled children, medical certificate
    * Persons who are granted a swim card with a B statement on psychiatric grounds must present a valid certificate annually.

It is possible to get an assistant code for the swim wristband for special groups, so that an adult assistant accompanying the wristband holder can get free entrance to the swimming hall. The assistant helps the card holder with clothing, washing and getting around throughout the training. The following people are eligible to receive the code:

  • Persons with developmental disabilities
  • Persons with cerebral palsy (CP)
  • Persons with visual impairments
  • Epileptics
  • Persons with SLI
  • Persons with ADHD
  • Children under 10 who meet the criteria. If the child is younger, for example 8 years old, the assistant code will be granted for no longer than 2 years.
  • Others whose illness or disability requires it on discretionary basis.

The assistant code is marked on the special swimming wristband at the swimming hall cash desk upon purchase. The KELA card code 111 or visual impairment card must be presented. Alternatively, the assistant code can be applied from Sports and Exercise Services in conjunction with the wristband application.

ACCOMPANYING FRIEND
Espoo-resident sports wristband holders aged 68 and up or holders of the swimming wristband for special groups can bring an adult friend to swimming halls in Espoo free of charge. The accompanying friend can be, for example, a grown-up child, another relative or a friend. The friend can come even if the wristband holder has an assistant code to bring a personal assistant along. The benefit does not apply to guided activities at swimming halls or to gyms.

GYM WRISTBAND FOR SPECIAL GROUPS

The decision to grant the wristband will remain valid for one year from receipt, and the wristband can be recharged at the following prices:

  • €12   1 month 
  • €45   6 months 
  • €80   12 months

The wristband is valid at City of Espoo gyms during their independent training periods. Users of swimming hall gyms must also pay the swimming hall entrance fee. Please see the grounds for granting the swimming hall wristband for special groups. The gym wristband can be purchased by persons who will turn 15 this year. The holder of the wristband must be a resident of Espoo.

  • Customers can retrieve their gym wristbands at the desired Citizen’s Office or swimming hall cash desk by presenting the requisite KELA card or visual impairment card.
  • Wristbands on medical grounds can be applied for with the City of Espoo Sports and Exercise Services.

  • Diabetes, KELA card code 103
  • Epilepsy (G40), KELA card code 111 or medical certificate (the 
  • Psychiatric patients, KELA card code 112 or pension decision (B statement) on psychiatric grounds
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) and comparable illnesses (G35), KELA card code 109 or 303 or medical certificate
  • Visual impairment, visual impairment card
  • Parkinson’s disease, KELA card code 110 or medical certificate
  • Rheumatism, KELA card code 202
  • Fibromyalgia, medical certificate
  • Cerebral palsy (CP) (G80), medical certificate
  • Dystonia, medical certificate
  • Progressive central nervous system disorders (G10–G13), medical certificate
  • Disabled people who have a degree of disability of at least 50%, i.e. the disability category is 11 or above, medical certificate

Persons suffering from developmental disabilities, CP, visual impairments or epilepsy can receive a wristband that allows the wristband holder's adult assistant to access the gym to help the disabled person with clothing, washing and going around throughout the training. The 1+ assistant card can be granted on a discretionary basis to members of other groups whose illness or disability makes it necessary.

FREE SWIMMING HALL OR GYM ACCESS FOR FAMILY CAREGIVERS
Family caregivers who are caring for an Espoo resident can access swimming halls and train independently at gyms free of charge. The card is granted to persons who receive family care support from the City of Espoo (payslip must be presented).
