European Week of Sport Opening Ceremony and School Action Day 23.9.2019
The European Week of Sport (EWoS), which this year is being held for the fifth time, is an initiative of the European Commission to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The campaign encourages everyone to be active and raises awareness about the many benefits of physical activity. The slogan for the week is #BeActive. This year’s European Week of Sport will be opened during the Finnish EU Presidency, and the opening ceremony is scheduled for 23 September 2019 in connection with the School Action Day in Espoo.
Taking place at the Leppävaara Sports Park in Espoo on Monday, 23 September 2019 at 9:00–15:00, the event is intended for 3rd–9th-graders in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
The event will offer physical activity at various activity points, other activities at the event square as well as performances on the stage. In addition, the day will include a common opening ceremony for everyone. The opening will feature music, dance, shared physical activity and a good atmosphere. There will be about 100 activity points provided by sports associations and clubs as well as other actors.
