Nights are still cold, but the boat harbours are getting ready for the spring maintenance season. We would like to remind boat owners that the recommendations and instructions issued by the Government and health authorities to control the spread of the coronavirus also apply to boat harbours.

So far there have been no recommendations or instructions that would prevent the use of boat harbours. However, boaters must comply with the recommendations at boat harbours, in winter storage areas and on docks. What this means is that they must keep a safe distance from other people, avoid close contact and ensure good hygiene.

In spite of the exceptional circumstances, we hope that as many boat owners as possible are able to launch their boats by 10 June and enjoy their hobby. Due to the exceptional situation, this is not possible for everyone. The City of Espoo Sports and Exercise Services has therefore decided that boaters are not required to launch their boats this year. Instead, boat owners who have a berth at one of the city’s boat harbours and the members of clubs that operate at the city’s boat harbours will be allowed to store their boats in the current winter storage area from 10 June until 15 September and also during the next winter storage season from 15 September 2020 until 10 June 2021. The city will charge the usual fees for the winter storage places.

Those boat owners who have launched or will launch their boat can leave their boat stands or trailers in their current winter storage place. However, fixed-term winter storage agreements will end on 10 June as usual.

Boat clubs may also issue separate instructions or decisions to their members.
