Translation application could enable the city to offer multilingual customer service

The City of Espoo experimented with a translation application to find out if the solution could improve customer service and add to the cost effectiveness of city’s service situations that are frequently repeated. The results of the experiment were promising and provide a good basis for the future expansion of the range of language offered by the City of Espoo in customer service situations.

In order to serve our residents better also online, we are currently developing a new MyEspoo website. It is a self-service channel allowing clients to communicate with the city electronically and comfortably at a time of their choice.

The Iso Omena Service Centre is closed on Good Friday, 2 April 2021, and for Easter from 4 to 5 April 2021. The Kalajärvi Service Centre will be closed for all the Easter holidays from 2 to 5 April 2021. This also applies to all remote services that many Service Centre units offer instead of face-to-face services during the coronavirus situation.

Espoo Employment Corner to become part of Employment Espoo

The local government pilot on employment – Employment Espoo – begins in Espoo in March. For the period of 1 March 2021–30 June 2023, 18,000 jobseekers in Espoo will be transferred from the TE Office to become clients of the City of Espoo. In this connection, the Espoo Employment Corner will become part of the Employment Espoo service package.

Kalajärvi Service Point to start offering Kela’s remote service

The services of the City of Espoo’s Service Point in Kalajärvi will be extended to include Kela’s remote service from 8 February 2021. All of the City of Espoo’s Service Points already provide general advice on Kela matters, but the new remote service will deepen the level of advice.
