The coronavirus is spreading in Finland and around the world. Therefore, we have to reduce the operations of maternity and child health clinics starting from 23.3.2020. We will offer more telephone and remote appointments than before.
Maternity and child health clinics only see pregnant women and children up to the child’s health check-up at 1 year of age.
Six-month-old babies can get an individual appointment with a public health nurse instead of a group clinic appointment.
Toddlers will be given appointments at the open clinic so that they can get the vaccines listed in the Finnish national vaccination programme.
Toddlers’ health check-ups will be cancelled starting from 23 March until further notice.
All booked appointments will be cancelled until 30 April. We will contact these clients personally. New child health clinic appointments for toddlers are not available until further notice.
Instead, we will book individual appointments on a case-by-case basis for children who need them.
All group meetings have been cancelled until further notice. As all family coaching groups have also been cancelled, please read childbirth education and family coaching materials on the Terveyskylä and HUS websites:
Information about breastfeeding is also available on the Terveyskylä and HUS websites:
You can also get an appointment with a lactation consultant at the maternity and child health clinic, if you need one.
The open clinic
Starting from 23 March, you need to book an appointment to visitthe open clinic. Book an appointment by calling the maternity and child health clinics’ centralised customer service number, tel. 09 816 22800, Mon–Fri 8:30–14:30.
Evening opening hours will be suspended as of 30 March.
We will close our online appointment booking system, however. We will remove the Roidu customer feedback devices and self-care points from all clinics.
In addition, the clinics will be cleaned even more frequently and thoroughly.
Only visit a clinic in good health
You are only allowed to visit a maternity and child health clinic if you are in good health. If you should need a new appointment time, please call our appointment booking and counselling number at tel. 09 8162 2800 on weekdays 8.30–14.30.
Please do not bring many people with you, to prevent our waiting rooms from becoming too crowded. In addition, we will only admit the clients who will be examined and one guardian to the consulting room.
We will use remote interpreters if we can.
Coronavirus is taken seriously
The City of Espoo takes the coronavirus very seriously. The health and well-being of our clients and staff are important to us. We are making these arrangements because some of our staff have been transferred to urgent tasks at health centres and in home care for the elderly. In addition, some members of our staff are in quarantine.
We apologise for the inconvenience. We will keep monitoring the situation and keep all residents up to date with possible changes. We will do our best to minimise the impact of this situation on Espoo residents.
We will update information on the coronavirus on our website: espoo.fi/coronavirus
